Dr. Arthur Hayes, Jr., the FDA commissioner who approved aspartame (NutraSweet), later took a job with Burson-Marsteller as a senior medical adviser. Burson-Marsteller was the public relations firm for G.D. Searle, the company that developed aspartame. Coincidence?
