From everything I heard it was possible with Secure boot disabled. Well my System 76 suggestion still stands then!

Hi, John,

I disabled secure boot before Windows decided to rewrite itself. A friend who works as an IT specialist hasn’t been able to recover it yet, as far as I know.

Since you are opening to running Linux, may I suggest System76. They make computers “born to run Linux”. Eventually there will come a time when getting a Windows 7 computer will become more difficult and I don’t see Microsoft letting up from there Win8/UEFI practices.

On another technicality however, all x86 UEFI’s must include an option to disable “secure boot”, and that should let you install Linux. It’s really only on tablets/ARM based computers that you are truly locked out.
