THE AMERICAN public voted this week and swept the Republican Party to its largest majority in Congress since World War II. Exit polls showed that Democrats lost big with white voters this time around, which indicates that the country is beginning to divide politically along racial lines. This, of course, plays into the hands of the elites who will gladly keep up fighting one another so we don’t pay attention to the people behind the curtain.

But the big story this week was the suicide of Brittany Maynard, a 29-year-old woman suffering from terminal brain cancer. Her death was facilitated by the assisted suicide law in Oregon and used by activists to promote their goals of legalizing death as a prescription for perceived suffering, and getting the government to assist.

Also: Ferguson, Missouri prepares for more rioting; torture death of 3-year-old in Pennsylvania; cannibal killer in Wales; mysterious incest ring death investigated in Alabama; and Ebola statistics don’t add up.

THE EBOLA outbreak continues to spread. A health care worker in Dallas who was part of the team treating Thomas Eric Duncan, the first Ebola fatality in the US, has tested positive for the virus. And a clinic in Boston now reports that a patient there who just returned from Liberia has been taken to a hospital. Over 4,000 are dead in west Africa, and that number may be low.

A question that hasn’t been answered yet is how much authority the World Health Organization will have to fight the disease in the U.S. Interestingly, though, an essay at Foreign Policy argues that Obamacare May Hold the Key to Saving the U.S. from Ebola.

Also: Canadian vaccine ships to Geneva this coming week; US government crowdsources a better hazmat suit; Sweden becomes first major EU country to recognize Palestine; and androgyny promoted to middle school kids.

P.I.D. Radio 7/15/13: Kick Hatred Off the Ship

SOMETIMES THE world feels like there is an evil entity that thrives on hatred, working tirelessly to keep groups at each others throats. (We mean besides Al Sharpton.) Case in point: Those who are exploiting reaction to the George Zimmerman verdict for personal or professional gain. (Like Al Sharpton.)

Remember: “Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” (1 Peter 5:8) Situations like this are made to order for the Enemy, and so-called men of God like Al Sharpton had better have a real good explanation when he faces the ultimate Judge.

Meanwhile, we prefer to focus on real heroes like teens Temar Boggs and Chris Garcia of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, who saved 5-year-old Jocelyn Rojas from an abductor last Thursday by chasing down the kidnapper’s car on their bikes. This story is especially important today because Temar is black and Jocelyn is white. Think on that while demagogues try to fan the flames of racial hatred.

Also: Thanks to alert listeners who pointed out that Doug Harris of Reachout Trust, whom we mentioned on Saturday’s show, recently passed away following a battle with cancer. We overlooked Doug’s passing and we regret not having known him better. His work on apologetics was top-notch and much needed.
