P.I.D. Radio 12/2/23: Why You Should Stop Using That Cheap Shopping App

IF SOMETHING seems too good to be true, it is. That’s as true now in the Internet Age as it’s ever been.

A shopping site called Temu has become one of the most popular apps on Android and iOS devices over the past year, with more than 100 million downloads as of this recording. It’s understandable; the prices Temu offers on items from clothing to tech are crazy cheap. So cheap, in fact, that a company called Grizzly Research estimates that Temu loses an average of $30 on every sale.

How can Temu stay in business? Because, as Grizzly Research argues in this report, Temu’s actual business is selling your data collected by an app Grizzly calls “cleverly hidden spyware that poses an urgent security threat to U.S. national interests.”

That may sound like hysteria, but as Grizzly Research documents, the Temu app “has hidden functions that allow for extensive data exfiltration unbeknown to users, potentially giving bad actors full access to almost all data on customers’ mobile devices.”

Not to put too fine a point on it, but that includes location data, images, addresses, birthdays, links to social media accounts, and, potentially, private financial information.

The fact that Temu is a Chinese-owned company also raises the possibility that that data it collects could wind up in the hands of the Chinese Communist Party. To put this in perspective, according to Grizzly Research, the Temu app is far more dangerous than TikTok.

THE WAR between Israel and Hamas is, at its core, spiritual.

We call this program P.I.D. Radio because we see our mission as Peering Into Darkness so we are not ignorant of the enemy’s designs. That enemy, as Paul wrote to the church at Ephesus, is not human, but supernatural, intelligent evil—principalities, powers, thrones, dominions, archons, and “cosmic rulers over this present darkness.”

The city god of Gaza in the time of Jesus was called Marna (or Marnas), identified by scholar Edward Lipiński as Dagon, chief god of the Philistines as far back as the time of the Judges in Israel. Dagon, or Dagan, was the chief deity of the Amorites along the Euphrates River dating back to the mid-3rd millennium BC, and under the names Enlil, Assur, Kumarbi, Milcom (Molech), Baal-Hammon, Kronos, and Saturn, was believed by pagans to be the father of the gods from the beginning of recorded history well into the Christian era.

As Derek wrote in The Second Coming of Saturn, we believe this entity was the leader of the rebellious sons of God in Genesis 6, named Shemihazah in the Book of 1 Enoch. He is the angel of the bottomless pit—the Destroyer, Abaddon/Apollyon.

That being the case, the horrors of the last seven days should make more sense.

Make no mistake, we take this very seriously. But the outcome has already been determined (see: Psalm 2, Daniel 7, Zechariah 14, Revelation 21, etc.). We discuss the transformation of the United States into an empire, following the path of the Roman Republic, and the spiritual forces behind that transformation as they prepare for the final war between the Fallen and the Messiah at the head of the heavenly host.

Marion County Record Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2023.

MARION, KANSAS finds itself making national headlines this week after local police raided the offices of the Marion County Record, which was investigating the town’s new police chief.

The town of 1,900 about 150 miles southwest of Kansas City is now at the center of a debate over press freedom. Some in the community believe the paper has been too aggressive and “inappropriately negative” in its coverage of local politics. The editor and publisher says the paper is just fulfilling its job as a watchdog, protecting the public’s interests.

This story is set against a backdrop of rising opposition to free speech in the United States. While a majority of the public claims to support the First Amendment to the Constitution, which guarantees freedom of speech (and the press), a growing number of mainly younger people want to exclude “hate speech” from those protections. But without protection for speech that’s potentially offensive, there is no freedom of speech.

That said, we note that just because you can say something doesn’t mean you should.

ONE OF the most disturbing aspects of the US government’s loss of control over our southern border is in the news this week: According to The New York Times, some 85,000 unaccompanied minors have disappeared after being delivered by the government to sponsors—many of whom, according to a whistleblower, are members of criminal organizations that traffic children.

Also: Second-largest bank failure in US history this week shows that the bank crisis is not over; Russia accuses US of trying to assassinate Putin; coronation of King Charles III (sorry, we do not think he’s the Antichrist—he’s too old); head of Wagner Group demands more ammunition or he’s pulling his mercenaries back from battle for key city in southern Ukraine; strange suicides of Google engineers as worries over threat of AI increase—but don’t worry, Kamala Harris is in charge of US government response to growing power of artificial intelligence.

ONE OF THE LARGEST banks in America went belly-up Friday. Silicon Valley Bank, with nearly $190 billion in deposits, was seized by federal regulators, leading to questions about how far this financial contagion will spread.

We also discuss the global split between the West and the rest of the world, led by the BRICS nations—Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa—with Saudi Arabia clearly moving out of the US orbit.

China has brokered a rapprochement between the Saudis and Iran, a move that has serious implications for the role of the US Dollar as the world’s de facto reserve currency. Coupled with what may be a looming economic meltdown heralded by the collapse of SVB, we could be looking at the first step toward the creation of a Central Bank Digital Currency put forward as a way to stabilize the global economy.

The question is how an increasingly divided world comes together to form the infrastructure of a future global government.

A FORMER U.S. ARMY SOLDIER from Louisville has been sentenced to 45 years in prison for plotting to kill his unit in a deadly ambush.

24-year-old Ethan Melzer belongs to the Order of Nine Angles, a neo-Nazi cult that believes groups like the Satanic Temple and Temple of Set are just play-acting at being Satanists. The O9A believes that any means necessary, including human sacrifice, must be used to destroy Western civilization, which they believe has been weakened by the Magians (Jews) and Nazarenes (Christians).

In other news: Another exercise wargaming the response to a pandemic? With a panel that includes Bill Gates? Seriously?

Catastrophic Contagion was the name of a pandemic tabletop exercise run in Belgium back in October by the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security in partnership with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Where have we heard this story before?

We discuss the threat posed by H5N1 (avian flu), which is a legitimate concern. It doesn’t spread easily between humans, which is a blessing—the infection fatality rate in over the last twenty years is over 50 percent.

ARCHAEOLOGISTS IN EGYPT announced the discovery of a copy of the Book of the Dead. This seems fitting, given some of the news of the past week.

The papyrus scroll, which measured more than 50 feet long when unrolled, belonged to a man named Ahmose who lived around 300 BC. It features text and images of gods related to the underworld, like Osiris.

We also discuss the first anniversary of the war in Ukraine and this week’s developments, a call for World War 2-style rationing by academics to save Mother Earth from the plague of humans, and rapidly declining birth rates and sperm counts around the world.

Finally, we touch on a new study that found that people with higher cognitive ability are less concerned about political correctness. In other words, the smarter you are, the less likely it is that you’re “woke.”

THE U.S. DEPARTMENT of Defense ran a secretive project to check out UFOs between 2007 and 2012, according to a new report in The New York Times.

Not surprisingly, the intelligence officer who ran the program is now part of To the Stars Academy of Arts & Science, a for-profit venture to promote “exotic science and technologies.” The heavy presence of intelligence professionals, some with a history of researching the gray area between science and spiritualism, raises questions about the direction and mission of TTS Academy. In our view, it’s another misguided New Age attempt to use science to contact the spirit realm.

Also: China using biometrics to identify potential terrorists among Uighurs; head of the School of Engineering Education at Purdue wants to eliminate “academic rigor”; and Jesuits ask Pope Francis to take the “warning label” off the writings of Fr. Pierre Teilhard de Chardin.

THE KID wanted to be adored. Sadly, it appears that a lunatic fringe is giving him in death what he claimed he never got in life.

Friday, May 23, 22-year-old Elliot Rodger allegedly stabbed three men to death and fatally shot three other young adults near Santa Barbara, California. His online manifesto and trail of video messages paints a disturbing picture of a young man who, in our view, was clearly under the influence of an external entity. WHILE THE bombing at the Boston Marathon may not have been a false flag event, it certainly had an interesting influence on the political discussion. Sen. Rand Paul, who staged a 13-hour filibuster in protest of the Obama administration’s use of drones to kill American citizens, said in an interview that he could possibly support the use of drones for police work in American cities.

Meanwhile, news that the Syrian government may have used chemical weapons on its own citizens brings the United States closer to war in the Middle East. Also: Deadly H7N9 flu spreads through China.

WELL, WE’VE SURVIVED the Mayan Doomsday. So we begin the first day of the rest of the aeon with a look back at the Newtown, Connecticut shootings.

For the record, Derek was not advocating giving toy guns to boys, he was just making a point: Boys have played at war for millennia and the vast majority never grew up to commit mass murder. It’s a spiritual thing, not a firepower thing.
