AS THE classic rock song goes, “Time keeps on slipping, slipping, slipping…into the future…” Thanks to quantum physics. it seems those lyrics might not be technically correct.

A recent experiment with helium atoms demonstrated that, at the quantum level, time may run backwards, and reality does not even exist until it is observed. Some New Age teachers take this as confirmation of the Law of Attraction, or mind over matter — much to the annoyance of quantum physicists.

Also: MERS and Avian flu continue to spread (and Ebola in West Africa is not quite dead); organ harvesting in China; the Bilderberg Group meets this weekend; “Contact in the Desert” spreads the ancient alien gospel; California moves to eliminate personal belief exemptions for unvaccinated children; and a child dies in Mexico, apparently sacrificed to Santa Muerte.

We discuss elements of the show and the tendency of people — selves included — to incorporate fiction into our theology.

WE BEGIN our 11th year of webcasting with a look at some of the issues we believe the world will confront in 2015. Of course, it doesn’t take much imagination to predict more turmoil in the Middle East, especially given the Palestinian Authority’s recent failed initiative to have the United Nations Security Council declare it an independent state. We also discuss the continued conflict between the Islamic State and anyone who stands in the way of their dream of a restored caliphate.

We discuss politics, Ebola, the price of oil, shaky banks and a wobbly economy, and unconfirmed reports indicating that an incident at the Zaporozhye nuclear plant in Ukraine is ongoing and far more serious than was reported a month ago.

P.I.D. Radio 11/8/14: Balkanizing the Nation

THE AMERICAN public voted this week and swept the Republican Party to its largest majority in Congress since World War II. Exit polls showed that Democrats lost big with white voters this time around, which indicates that the country is beginning to divide politically along racial lines. This, of course, plays into the hands of the elites who will gladly keep up fighting one another so we don’t pay attention to the people behind the curtain.

But the big story this week was the suicide of Brittany Maynard, a 29-year-old woman suffering from terminal brain cancer. Her death was facilitated by the assisted suicide law in Oregon and used by activists to promote their goals of legalizing death as a prescription for perceived suffering, and getting the government to assist.

Also: Ferguson, Missouri prepares for more rioting; torture death of 3-year-old in Pennsylvania; cannibal killer in Wales; mysterious incest ring death investigated in Alabama; and Ebola statistics don’t add up.

AS WE approach Halloween, events in the news are becoming even more frightening than a well-produced haunted house: Another doctor tests positive for Ebola, and the head of CIDRAP (Center for Infectiious Disease Research and Policy) publicly worries that this is more likely to spread through aerosols than we have been told. Meanwhile, another top scientist suggests that mutations are making it more contagious than strains that have turned up in the past. Are things really that bad or does somebody want us to, like the announcer says, be afraid — be very afraid?

Also: The overpopulation myth, the virus as an organic hacker, and The Bell Curve and its relevance to transhumanism.

PRESIDENT OBAMA has appointed an “Ebola Czar”, but rather than a medical professional the president has selected Ron Klain, an attorney and influential operative within the Democrat Party. We find this odd, as the Department of Health and Human Services already has an Assistant Secretary for Readiness and Response, Dr. Nicole Lurie, who holds the rank of Rear Admiral.

The mission of the ASPR is “to lead the nation in preventing, responding to and recovering from the adverse health effects of public health emergencies and disasters, ranging from hurricanes to bioterrorism.” Not to pick nits, but doesn’t the current Ebola situation fit her job description?

THE EBOLA outbreak continues to spread. A health care worker in Dallas who was part of the team treating Thomas Eric Duncan, the first Ebola fatality in the US, has tested positive for the virus. And a clinic in Boston now reports that a patient there who just returned from Liberia has been taken to a hospital. Over 4,000 are dead in west Africa, and that number may be low.

A question that hasn’t been answered yet is how much authority the World Health Organization will have to fight the disease in the U.S. Interestingly, though, an essay at Foreign Policy argues that Obamacare May Hold the Key to Saving the U.S. from Ebola.

Also: Canadian vaccine ships to Geneva this coming week; US government crowdsources a better hazmat suit; Sweden becomes first major EU country to recognize Palestine; and androgyny promoted to middle school kids.

We discuss the character and the Buddhist concept of the tulpa and the possibility that demons may be using the Slender Man phenomenon to influence teens looking for supernatural power.

IF LIBERIAN Patrick Sawyer had stayed strong enough to travel for a few more days, the eight health care workers who died in Lagos, Nigeria might have been in Minneapolis. Ebola hasn’t spread to the West yet, but Sawyer is a sobering reminder that the deadly virus is just one plane ride away from almost anywhere.

AN UGLY scenario is playing out in Iraq. An al-Qaeda linked group, the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), has essentially invaded Iraq from Syria and is on the verge of launching a battle for Baghdad. News reports from the region depict ISIS as a brutal terror organization, leaving a trail of beheaded bodies in its wake.

But until recently, we in the West were sending these guys money and weapons to help them fight against the government of Bashar al-Assad in Syria. What in the world is going on over there?

Also: Turkey shuts off the Euphrates River; child immigrant crisis along America’s southern border; Ebola and chikungunya spreading; and meet the exorcists next door.

SOMEONE SHOULD have warned First Lady Michelle Obama that appearing in a Twitter photo holding up a #BringBackOurGirls sign was a bad idea. It took about 15 minutes for the picture to be Photoshopped.

Worse, it made the government of the United States look juvenile (again). As former State Department counselor Eliot Cohen wrote, America’s leaders “may be charming, bright and attractive; they may have the best of intentions; but they do not look serious. They act as though Twitter and clenched teeth or a pout could stop invasions or rescue kidnapped children in Nigeria.”

APPARENTLY IT’S not enough to scan us at airports, sporting events, or while we’re driving around town, the government is enlisting our banks, ISPs, and childrens’ bus drivers in the total surveillance state. It feels like the elites are trying to provoke us.
