ONE YEAR after the disastrous earthquake, Haiti has all but disappeared from the public’s awareness. That’s good for somebody; one year on, only 10% of the aid money donated to help rebuild Haiti has been spent there, and only 5% of the rubble in Port-au-Prince has been cleared.

Also: rumor of Nelson Mandela’s death unfounded; Blackwater founder backs mercenaries in Somalia; and the US government tests GPS defense.

PRESIDENT OBAMA heads for India with an impressive collection of military hardware and 200 leading CEOs. India, a gracious host, is removing coconuts from the trees and deploying monkey catchers near the president’s travel route.

CERN SCIENTISTS now admit that they hope the Large Hadron Collider will help them discover extra dimensions and parallel universes. If they can find the one with the Krispy Kreme in Shelbyville, sign us up.

THE SURPRISE election of heretofore unknown Republican Scott Brown to the Senate seat held by Edward Kennedy amounts to the detonation of a reality bomb in the White House. President Obama may finally recognize that his governing style to date has not set well with most of America. His nod to policies favored by centrists and conservatives at the State of the Union address last week suggest that he will at least appear to work toward a more inclusive legislative agenda.

We discuss that apparent shift and what may simply be the Hegelian dialectic at work. It’s possible that President Obama is not the second coming of Franklin Roosevelt, but of Herbert Hoover.

Also: more discussion of Pat Robertson’s claim that Haiti made a pact with the devil 200 years ago (video of Mr. Robertson’s remarks “super-giant” oilfield near Haiti; foreign influence on elections OK — as long as it’s the U.S. influencing foreign elections; World Economic Forum debates whether religion breeds violence; Bejamin Netanyahu says the prophecy of Ezekiel 37 is fulfilled; and a phantom M8.6 quake in China.

We discuss a number of fronts in the spiritual war this week, including the earthquake in Haiti (and the ways it’s been hijacked to promote various political and spiritual points of view); Avatar, Legion and The Book of Eli; rash of suicides at France Telecom; and UFOs over Tracy, CA, a town that saw a number of twisted sex crimes in 2009.
