THE US and EU wasted no time in condemning the referendum in Crimea. According to reports from the area, nearly 80% of voters in the region turned out and over 90% voted in favor of seceding from Ukraine and rejoining Russia.

The reaction of American and European leaders is ironic, considering that President Obama has defended the assassination of American citizens without due process, unrestricted NSA spying, and military action in support of the rights of Afghans, Iraqis, Libyans, and South Sudanese to determine their own political futures.

We also discuss the still-missing Flight 370, Fred Phelps, Sr. of Westboro Baptist Church, and where the research for our presentations for the Orlando Prophecy Summit has taken us over the last month. DEPENDING ON who you believe, either fewer than 500 or upwards of 50,000 descended on Wall Street Saturady for the US Day of Rage. Media outlets were either biased or bored. We’ll see what happens Monday morning — or watch for yourself online.

Meanwhile, Glenn Beck launched GBTV on the web this week. It took one day for Beck to equate people who question the official story of 9/11 with radical Islamists. Thanks, Glenn.

NOT OUR Sharon, but Ariel Sharon. A 108-year-old rabbi who passed away in 2008 reportedly left behind a prophecy that the Messiah would return when former Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon dies. Sharon has been in a coma since January of 2006.

P.I.D. Radio 7/17/11: A Response to The Response

TEXAS GOV. Rick Perry is heading up a day of prayer in Houston on August 6th, an event called The Response. We find this disturbing for a couple of reasons: First, Gov. Perry references Joel chapter 2, which describes the demonic army that ravages Israel; and second, this event is coordinated and endorsed by prominent players within the New Apostolic Reformation.

Joel’s Army means something very different to the NAR than it does for most of us, and our prayer is that Gov. Perry means well but is uninformed about what these people are about. Please read the series of articles by Discernment Ministries on this event:

Sadly, leading evangelicals like Jim and Shirley Dobson have also endorsed this event.

A NEWS release from Buffalo, New York caught our attention this week: a group there hopes to build a 700-foot shrine to Our Lady of Guadalupe on the shores of Lake Erie. Take a look at the official website here — it’s breathtaking, and not necessarily in the way the planners intend.

P.I.D. Radio 5/2/10: Mayday! Mayday!

A CULT took center stage in Washington, D.C. yesterday — or rather, took the steps of the Lincoln Memorial — for an event that featured prominent American Christians and volunteers from all fifty states. May Day 2010 was billed as a day to publicly repent and cry out to God for mercy instead of the judgment we deserve.

That’s fine, as far as it goes, but there are some serious doctrinal problems with the approach. Not least of which is the net effect of this event, which allowed leaders of the heretical New Apostolic Reformation to rub shoulders with respected evangelical leaders. In short, Dominionism went public, and it was publicly sanctioned by mainstream evangelicals.
