We also discuss several stories related to Russia: Putin’s goals in the Middle East, a possible partnership with Israel to develop the Leviathan natural gas field, the ongoing investigation into the crash of Metrojet flight 9268 in the Sinai, Russian programmers plant viruses on sensitive Pentagon computer networks, and the founder of Russia Today (RT) found dead in Washington, D.C.

Also: SETI searches for radio noise from the “alien megastructure”, secret military activity in the ocean near L.A., and all 20 of the “Worst Small Cities in America” are in California.

P.I.D. Radio 4/26/15: Of Gods and Mountains

MOUNTAINS ARE shaking. A massive earthquake has left over 2,400 dead in Nepal, India, Bangladesh, and Tibet at last count, and that number will almost certainly grow in the hours ahead. Meanwhile, a volcano in Chile has unexpectedly erupted for the first time in 40 years, spewing a cloud of ash that’s reached southern Brazil.

What’s more, people spotted something that looked like a giant in the cloud and some locals are convinced that it was a manifestation of the god of the volcano.

This isn’t surprising. Mountains and volcanoes have been considered the abode of gods since the dawn of time. In fact, Eden was on “the holy mountain of God” (Ezekiel 28:13-14). And the climactic battle between the armies of heaven and the forces of Antichrist will be at Armageddon — har-mo’ed — the “mount of assembly” in the Holy Land, Mount Zion.

WE MISS Doctor Future and Tom Bionic.

Oh, we know they’re out there, and we have communicated with them from time to time since they hung up their headphones in February of 2012 after seven years and some 300 programs. FutureQuake was one of the best and most thoughtful programs on the web, examining the big issues of faith and life from a biblical point of view.

You may know that a group of people south of the equator have picked up the banner and are continuing the good work. It was our honor this weekend to be guests on FutureQuake Southern Hemisphere with hosts GK Vader, Andie Tyd, and Crus Ader in what turned out to be a wonderful, freewheeling discussion of transhumanism, dominionism, and why all of us commit so much time to researching topics you normally don’t hear discussed in church.

P.I.D. Radio 8/5/13: Spies of Life

SPIES HAVE dominated the news of late — the NSA spying scandal has revealed that the US government is basically tracking all our electronic communications. Today we discuss a couple of new revelations. First, CNN reports that the CIA had about three dozen operatives on the ground in Benghazi when the U.S. consulate was attacked last September. Why? They were apparently running guns, shipping missiles from Libya to the rebels in Syria.

What could possibly go wrong?

Second, a secretive joint venture of the NSA, CIA, IRS, FBI, and DEA called the SOD — Special Operations Division — is sending intercepted data to local law enforcement so police can arrest American citizens — who aren’t supposed to be targets of the NSA or CIA ever — for mundane crimes like selling drugs.

P.I.D. Radio 7/13/13: Of (Genetically Engineered) Mice and Men

RESEARCHERS IN England announced this week the creation of genetically-engineered mice with artificial human chromosomes in every cell of their bodies. The government there has pledged tens of millions of pounds to synthetic biology research, including an international project to construct all 16 chromosomes of yeast to produce the first synthetic organism with a complex genome.

The pitch is that the research will yield exciting new gene therapies, and it may. But transgenic mice (or pigs, goats, and cattle) with human genetic material raises some disturbing questions. P.I.D. Radio 2/17/13: Fire in the Sky

IT’S BEEN an odd week. Following the surprise announcement of Pope Benedict’s resignation, a spectacular fireball streaked across the Siberian sky, injuring some 1,200 people when the meteorite exploded in the atmosphere with the force of about 30 Hiroshima bombs.

Besides that, a geneticist issued a statement claiming that she had solid DNA proof of the existence of a novel primate species: Homo sapiens cognatus — AKA Bigfoot.

Also: Killer asteroid in 2106 (or not, depending on who you believe); Pope appoints member of Knights of Malta to head Vatican bank; a seat for the Vatican at King David’s tomb; “Blade Runner” charged with murder; new outbreak of bird flu in Mexico; black magic in Africa; and Radford University offers independent study in necromancy.

P.I.D. Radio 1/20/13: More Adventures in Africa

ALGERIAN SPECIAL forces stormed a natural gas plant in the Sahara Desert Sunday, ending a hostage situation that reportedly claimed over 80 lives, including those of the 32 militants who attacked the plant last week. It is unclear if any of the hostages survived.

The group claiming responsibility claimed the attack was a response to military action against comrades in neighboring Mali, where French troops (with British support) and a pan-African force (with American support) are moving against Islamist militants. Although the attack was apparently planned long before the French military was deployed in Mali, the question remains: Who is telling the whole truth about Western military involvement?

Also: President Obama sworn in for the third and fourth times; horse meat in the burgers at Tesco; Senator Kirk sees angels; parallels between Rome and the U.S.; and the contentious year ahead in bioethics according to Wesley J. Smith.

P.I.D. Radio 7/31/11: From Future Congress to Super Congress

AS WE record this on the afternoon of July 31, 2011, the U.S. Congress is wrangling over details of a compromise to raise the federal debt ceiling. Several news sources report that part of the deal includes the creation of a new twelve-member panel, six Democrats and six Republicans representing both houses of Congress, that would have the power to create fast-track legislation — bills that could be voted on by the full houses of Congress, but could not be filibustered or amended.

Well, why not. If the president can order hits on American citizens without oversight of any kind then anything is constitutional.

RATHER THAN repeat ourselves tonight by doing a show and then another show, we’ve decided to just take it on the road and feature the hour we were honored to spend as guests on Raiders News Live with our friends, Tom and Nita Horn — and, of course, the “Wild Man of the Ozarks”, Joe Ardis.

Tom and company pretty much gave us free rein to discuss today’s NASA “astrobiology” discovery, the proposed Edgar Mitchell/Billy Meier forum, alien disclosure, the alleged Gulf of Aden stargate, transhumanism, pandemics, and our panoptic society. It’s a wild hour, and the high point may be Sharon’s speculation about why DARPA’s X-37B space drone has been orbiting Earth for nine months.
