It is unclear if any of the hostages survived.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->The group claiming responsibility claimed the attack was a response to military action against comrades in neighboring Mali, where French troops (with British support) and a pan-African force (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/world\/national-security\/us-sends-trainers-for-mali-bound-force\/2013\/01\/18\/2d715ce6-61ba-11e2-b05a-605528f6b712_story.html\" target=\"_blank\">with American support<\/a>) are moving against Islamist militants.
