THE EBOLA outbreak continues to spread. A health care worker in Dallas who was part of the team treating Thomas Eric Duncan, the first Ebola fatality in the US, has tested positive for the virus. And a clinic in Boston now reports that a patient there who just returned from Liberia has been taken to a hospital. Over 4,000 are dead in west Africa, and that number may be low.
A question that hasn’t been answered yet is how much authority the World Health Organization will have to fight the disease in the U.S. Interestingly, though, an essay at Foreign Policy argues that Obamacare May Hold the Key to Saving the U.S. from Ebola.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING! We’re back after a week away for work around the house and a wonderful visit with family.
Our focus today was on The Manhattan Declaration, a position paper issued Nov. 20, 2009 by a group of prominent Christian leaders. In short, the declaration calls Orthodox, Catholic, and evangelical Christians to defend the sanctity of human life, the dignity of marriage, and the rights of conscience and religious liberty.
Those are unquestionably values on which Christians can agree — but is it a statement of faith or a dominionist political platform? (The full list of religious leaders who’ve signed the declaration is here; read John MacArthur’s response to the declaration here.)
Also: The Family supports draconian anti-homosexual laws in Uganda; US and Iran in naval faceoff near Yemen; Blackwater’s secret war in Pakistan; the president’s surge in Afghanistan; and a brief review of The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown.

THE NEWS is enough to drive you into a deep blue funk: the signing of the hate crimes bill; the spread of H1N1; banksters betting on you to lose your house and then die quickly; Russia simulating a nuclear attack on Poland; and a UN nuclear expert doing a mysterious 17-floor death plunge in Vienna.
Meanwhile, our minds have been soaking in a pop culture soup of godless communitarianism since the days of H.G. Wells, who popularized the idea that mankind must unite under a global government or die.
And if that isn’t enough, cattle in Georgia are being mutilated with surgical precision.
Instead of fixating on these things, which Christ told us to expect, take a break and remember the words of Paul:
[W]hatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
Don’t ignore the signs, just remember that they mean Christ’s return is a day closer.

EVANGELICAL CHRISTIANS are being coopted by the New Age movement, and most don’t even know it. Much of the reading we’ve been doing this week has revolved around that fact, and a good part of tonight’s show explores some of the evidence.
In short, dominionists, emerging churchers, and ecumenical groups are all aiming for the same goal as New Agers: heaven on Earth. Which may explain, for example, why influential New Ager Paul Temple, founder of the Institute of Noetic Sciences, donates so much money to the secretive and politically connected evangelical group The Family. (More about that tomorrow on this week’s View From the Bunker.)
Watch for keywords like “shift”, “bridge”, and “transformation”, and be wary of what they really mean.
