33 YEARS ago today, the troubled life of Elvis Aaron Presley came to an untimely end. We discuss some of the rumors and conspiracy theories about “the King” and his impact on our culture. However his life truly played out, he was unquestionably the match who touched off a radical change in music, movies, and attitudes, a bridge between the conservative gray flannel world of the Korean War era and the psychedelic ’60s.

THE SHOOTINGS at Fort Hood on November 5 dominate the news today, and rightly so. We discuss Major Nidal Malik Hasan and his connection to a couple of the 9/11 hijackers through a radical imam in Falls Church, Virginia. See the website of the Northeast Intelligence Network for information you won’t get from the major media.

We also discussed an odd detail connected to the shootings in Orlando the day after the terror event at Fort Hood. Jason Rodriguez allegedly killed one and wounded six during his rampage at 1000 Legion Place; his license plate is D119UX — 911 reversed, bracketed by dux, the Latin word for a Roman general in command of two or more legions. Coincidence?

What is reported as an H1N1 outbreak in Ukraine continues to spread rapidly. As of today, over a million have contracted the flu, nearly 53,000 are hospitalized, and 174 have died. (Here is the link to the Google translation of the original report from the Ukraine Ministry of Health.)

Also: US House passes health care “reform” — buy insurance or go to jail; drills for pneumonic plague outbreaks; and the three hikers charged with espionage by Iran are not average American kids on holiday; they’re Arabic speakers in their late 20s and early 30s who live in the Middle East, and who, at the very least, should have known better than to go anywhere near the Iranian border.

NO MATTER what they call it — “public option”, “consumer option”, socialism, fascism — the end will be the same: more control in fewer hands. It’s been coming for two thousand years, but we know who wins in the end.

Also: 10/25 passes without an economic meltdown, although commercial real estate is starting to collapse; President Obama declares H1N1 emergency; and the hate crimes bill finally passes. Soon, violent crime will be EXTRA illegal — some of the time.

NO, HEARING voices definitely isn’t a good sign. After learning about the horrific story of Angelo Mendoza, the man who’s accused of biting out the eyes of his 4-year-old son, we noticed a low-level meme running through the news — literally dozens of stories in recent weeks about crimes from murder to rape to arson to suicide allegedly committed by people who claim to hear voices.

The medical community will no doubt attribute the claims to schizophrenia or attempts to build a criminal defense by claiming insanity. But why do all of these reports involve voices urging people to commit acts of violence on others? Why don’t these voices ever encourage people to love their neighbors, study hard and turn in homework assignments on time, or dress warmly and eat lots of vegetables?

Our belief is that at least some of these people really are hearing voices, and those voices aren’t coming from beings loyal to God.

Also: it’s President Obama’s birthday — where was he born (hint: it’s Hawaii, and if you even HINT otherwise, you’re clearly a racist xenophobic wingnut who needs to be stopped at all costs)? The U.S. Postal Service looks at closing up to 10% of its post offices; a 7.0 quake in Baja; and pray not for the nation, but for its people.

Our discussion centered on the topic of transhumanism and posthumanism. Wesley analyzed the H+ movement and its underlying worldview, which he characterized as a naturalistic religion driven by the contradictory complaints that human life is inherently flawed and way too short.

TODAY’S SHOW covered a range of topics, but most of our time was spent discussing genetically modified crops and the difficulty in finding out how GM foods affect our health. Meanwhile, H1N1 vaccines are being fast-tracked, with human trials only intended to determine dosage — not whether the vaccines are actually safe.

Also: military poised to help FEMA deal with swine flu; CIA code expert found dead on hiking trail; New York City gives homeless one-way ticket out of town; and the state of Arizona considers selling its capitol buildings.

Here’s the link to the timeline of aspartame’s approval we mentioned during the show. Dr. Arthur Hayes, Jr., the FDA commissioner who approved aspartame (NutraSweet), later took a job with Burson-Marsteller as a senior medical adviser. Burson-Marsteller was the public relations firm for G.D. Searle, the company that developed aspartame. Coincidence?

The message is clear: don’t bother with the details, just trust us. We’ll see if the American public’s opposition to the proposed nationalization of health care stays strong or if something comes along (World Series? Football? Washington scandal?) to distract us.

Also: House defeats bill to deny tax dollars to Planned Parenthood; Pope Benedict defrocks Medjugorje priest; and mother in Dallas decapitates her baby, saying the devil told her to do it.

P.I.D. Radio 7/16/09: This Is Only a Drill… For Now

IN A move that’s clearly intended to send a message to Iran, the Israeli navy has sailed two of its most advanced missile boats through the Suez Canal and into the Red Sea. Only ten days ago, an Israeli submarine believed to be equipped with cruise missiles armed with nuclear warheads made the same passage. And the Israeli military will conduct long-range tests of its Arrow anti-missile system at a U.S. missile range in the Pacific Ocean later this month.

The message is blunt: “We can move nuclear weapons within range of Tehran anytime we want.”

Also: health care reform means cost/benefit analysis of human life; Tony Blair and his 12 apostles; the Euphrates River drying up; and the Episcopal Church USA now open to clergy of all genders and sexual orientations.

THE Egyptian meme continues to percolate through the culture: Barack Obama as the new King Tut; Michael Jackson as a court wizard to Ankhenaten; and now a woman who calls herself Nona Paris Lola Ankhesenamun Jackson, who claims to be Jackson’s widow and says, “Though he died to this earth he lives with my father Khalid Lucifer.” “Khalid” is a pre-Islamic Arabic name that means “the immortal” — thus her father is the immortal Lucifer.

Ms. Ankhesenamun (the name of Tutankhamen’s wife, who married the vizier, Ay, after Tut’s death) may be nuts, but the meme continues to spread.

Also: Obama’s evil eye; sleep drug shuts down consciousness while leaving you awake; Cynthia McKinney arrested again; and Rick Warren addresses a Muslim conference.

TODAY’S show spent a good deal of time on the mysterious death of former Russian spy Alexander Litvinenko. Keep two things in mind: 1) If the Russian government had wanted Litvinenko to disappear, he wouldnâ€t have been poisoned with a substance that killed him slowly over a period of three weeks; and 2) Polonium 210 isnâ€t nearly as hard to come by as the media is reporting. You can buy it tonight and have it in your hands by the middle of the week if you pay extra for express shipping.

We also talked about Pfizer: The company took it in the shorts with the news about its hot new cholesterol drug Torcepatrib, but itâ€s trying to win PR points with the announcement of a free AIDS drug giveaway in Africa. NOTE: The AIDS drug is experimental and hasnâ€t been approved for use by the FDA. This smells to us like a test on human guinea pigs, similar to the Nigerian scandal that got Pfizer in trouble back in 1996.

We also asked a very simple question: If the FBI doesn’t have enough evidence of Osama bin Laden’s involvement in 9/11 to even mention it on his ‘most wanted’ poster, then why did we really invade Afghanistan?
