P.I.D. Radio 2/25/23: Book of the Dead

ARCHAEOLOGISTS IN EGYPT announced the discovery of a copy of the Book of the Dead. This seems fitting, given some of the news of the past week.

The papyrus scroll, which measured more than 50 feet long when unrolled, belonged to a man named Ahmose who lived around 300 BC. It features text and images of gods related to the underworld, like Osiris.

We also discuss the first anniversary of the war in Ukraine and this week’s developments, a call for World War 2-style rationing by academics to save Mother Earth from the plague of humans, and rapidly declining birth rates and sperm counts around the world.

Finally, we touch on a new study that found that people with higher cognitive ability are less concerned about political correctness. In other words, the smarter you are, the less likely it is that you’re “woke.”

AN ASTEROID will fly by Earth on Halloween at only 1.3x the distance of the Moon. If that wasn’t eerie enough, the asteroid, nicknamed “Spooky”, has been identified by astronomers as a dead comet — and it just happens to look like a human skull.

ASTROPHYSICISTS ARE apparently beginning to rethink the idea of the Big Bang. A pair of researchers claimed this week that quantum mechanics suggest that the universe has always existed. The fact that erasing a starting point for the universe eliminates the need for a Creator is probably not coincidental.

Also: Virtual reality goes mainstream as Google and Mattel counter Facebook’s purchase of Oculus with a VR Viewmaster; warfighting robots; Homeland Security takes over cybersecurity; religion and AI; shifting political sands in the Middle East; and bogus photos support claims of Russian military in Ukraine.

P.I.D. Radio 8/14/13: Trash Bins Are Stalking You

IN JUST the most recent example of how insecure our digital privacy is, we hear that the city of London has ordered an advertising company to quit using its wifi-enabled trash bins to track the serial numbers of passing smart phones.

Renew, the company that makes the LCD-equipped bins, claims that they weren’t able to see information likes names, addresses, or passwords. However, the proof of concept demonstrates that the technology exists for other organizations — or government agencies — to do it.

Also: NSA to fire 90% of its sysadmins; the rise of Google; violence in Egypt; “angel priest” comes forward; and the Sun is about to flip.

SCIENTISTS HAVE announced plans to genetically modify the dangerous H7N9 virus to make it more lethal. They say it will help them understand how it could mutate in nature and trigger a catastrophic pandemic.

Hmm. The case mortality rate for H7N9 so far is near 20%, or about four times more deadly than the 1918/19 Spanish Flu. What could possibly go wrong?

Also: Archaeologists think they may have found a piece of the True Cross; Amish healer from Sharon’s old stomping grounds passes away; dolphins experience “unusual mortality event”; and more violence in the Sinai.

As the Egyptian military keeps ousted President Morsi under arrest (but it’s not a coup!), a technocrat — former finance minister Hazem el-Beblawi — is named interim prime minister. Is it a surprise that a man from the banking class is handed the reins?

HER DOCTOR probably wouldn’t use the word “miracle”, but we have no such qualms. Sharon learned this week that the nodes found on her vocal cords two months ago are completely gone, a discovery that made her doctor gasp in surprise! So we’re back in our chairs by the grace of God and thankful for your prayers.

This week: Apparent coup in Egypt (which has reportedly moved tanks to the Israeli border in the Negev); the “Civil War of 2016” and “The Origins of the American Military Coup of 2012” (link opens a PDF document); a strange suicide cluster among teens in Delaware; the Phoenix rises from the Olympic flame; and a lawsuit to block the president’s claimed power to arrest Americans anywhere, for any reason, and hold them indefinitely.

P.I.D. Radio at the Prophecy Summit: Avi Lipkin

PRESIDENT OBAMA plans to bring millions of Muslims to America. That claim by author and former IDF spokesman Avi Lipkin will no doubt raise eyebrows (and possibly blood pressure). Lipkin, who spoke at the Prophecy Summit at Branson on the threat posed by radical Islam, claims that a looming war in the Middle East will lead to a flood of Muslim refugees landing in the United States.

Agree or disagree, it’s an interview worth hearing if only to get a different perspective on the political and religious situation in the Middle East.

This interview from the Prophecy Summit at Branson is one of a series that will be posted over the next few months. P.I.D. Radio 12/11/11: Arab Spring, European Winter

WE NOTE with some sadness that what many thought would be the beginning of democratic reform in Egypt, Libya, and elsewhere in the Middle East is turning out to be something different. The Muslim Brotherhood and other Islamist groups have risen to power in Egypt and Libya, and there are reports that the U.S. government is now arming the military crackdown on protests in Egypt.

Meanwhile, the financial situation continues to deteriorate in Europe, which may be the premise for a true monetary (read: political) union of European states. Also: Senate votes to allow US military arrest of American citizens on American soil; Vatican calls for global political authority; Iran downs American stealth drone; protests in Russia; and serial rapist in Denver allegedly part of secret society.
