Alexander Litvinenko

THE BRITISH government is close to releasing the findings of its inquiry into the death of Alexander Litvinenko, a fugitive member of Russia’s FSB security service (formerly the KGB). Litvinenko died in 2006 at the age of 44, poisoned with radioactive polonium-210. Reports indicate that Litvinenko, who had defected to England, was killed after exposing links between the Russian mafia’s illegal drug trade and associates of Vladimir Putin.

Laughing Jack, a fictional character — impersonated by a demon?

MEET THE new Slenderman–an evil clown named Laughing Jack.

A 12-year old Indiana girl, diagnosed with Dissociative Identity Disorder, is being held at a juvenile detention center after allegedly stabbing her 50-year-old stepmother to death and setting their apartment on fire. Why did she do it? To please Laughing Jack.

Her case is eerily similar to the Slenderman murders in Wisconsin last year. We speculate on the spiritual causes behind this tragedy and discuss the concept of the tulpa, essentially an imaginary friend that comes to life.

Patrick Heron

WE MISS Patrick Heron. This dear brother in the Lord made us think and he always did it while making us smile.

He went home to be with the Lord January 2, 2014. Today is Paddy’s birthday. In tribute, we bring back an interview we recorded in February of 2007. During our discussion, Paddy said, in his inimitable style: The bad news is the Titanic is sinking; the good news is you don’t have to be on it.

One note: During our conversation, Patrick brought up a teaching he’d recently heard that claimed Cain was the literal offspring of Satan. We recommend an excellent study on the nature of the being in the garden, The Nachash and His Seed by Dr. Michael Heiser (PDF document).

We also note, as Sharon did during the interview, that Genesis 4:1 seems pretty clear:

And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.

Again, this is an hour that will make you think and do it with a smile.

Elliot Rodger fantasizing about “mountains of skulls and rivers of blood”

THE KID wanted to be adored. Sadly, it appears that a lunatic fringe is giving him in death what he claimed he never got in life.

Friday, May 23, 22-year-old Elliot Rodger allegedly stabbed three men to death and fatally shot three other young adults near Santa Barbara, California. His online manifesto and trail of video messages paints a disturbing picture of a young man who, in our view, was clearly under the influence of an external entity. For the record, Derek was not advocating giving toy guns to boys, he was just making a point: Boys have played at war for millennia and the vast majority never grew up to commit mass murder.  It’s a spiritual thing, not a firepower thing.

Who takes the fall?

AN INTERESTING thing emerged into public view last week during congressional hearings and the vice presidential debate: The State Department and the White House are playing a game of C.Y.A. regarding the deadly attack on the American consulate in Benghazi, Libya.  The question is whether President Obama or Secretary of State Clinton will take the fall.

Both parties seem willing to let the other do the honors.

Elsewhere: Turks and Syrians edge closer to war; Sen. Arlen Specter dies; Barack Obama’s “no god but Allah” ring; BBC film crew detained at Area 51; and the Brits develop anti-alien weapons.

Note: We received this email from Rabbi Michael Bugg on 10/15/12 which clarifies the point we tried to make about President Obama’s ring:

Assuming you didn’t get the answer later in the show, the Biblical equivalent to the Shahad would be the Shema (Deu. 6:4):

Shema Yisrael, Adonai Eloheynu, Adonai Echad.
Hear O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is One.

Obviously, I’m substituting “Adonai” (“the Lord”) for the Tetragramaton here. Alternatively, you could translate it,

Hear O Israel, the Eternal One is our God, the Eternal One alone.

The very next verse is, “And you shall love the Lord your God . . .” Yeshua quoted both the Shema and the next verse together when asked what the most important commandment is in Mark 12[:29-31]. From that I would argue that the Shema is not only the most important creed in Judaism, but that it should be to Christians as well–and that if a Christian were to have it on a ring (and I know several that do) that it would not be a problem at all.

The problem with a Christian wearing or stating the Shahad, even if it doesn’t contain the second clause regarding Mohammed (and in this case, I’d want to see the inside of the ring’s band) is that in Islamic theology, Allah is not only a general word for “God,” but is also the personal name of the God of Islam, in opposition to the Tetragramaton, which is the personal name of the God of Judaism and Christianity. Therefore to wear it or say it is to declare that there is no god but the one proclaimed by Mohammed–whose personal attributes as described in the Quran are precisely opposite of the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

Just my two cents.

Stan Deyo

IN LIEU of our take on the news this week — we really don’t want to rehash the political conventions — we decided to bring back an interview from our first year on the web.

In the fall of 2005, in the middle of the most intense Atlantic hurricane season ever (Katrina, Rita, and Wilma are, as of this writing, three of the six most intense hurricanes recorded) and following a destructive earthquake in Pakistan that killed an estimated 75,000 people, we spoke with Stan Deyo, CEO of Halo Orbital Technologies.  His life story reads like a sci-fi thriller — except that readers might find the plot too “out there” even for fiction.

His resume includes Above Top Secret security clearance, undercover work for the FBI, and work on a black budget project developing “flying saucer” propulsion technology under Dr. Edward Teller.

He’s also a computer programmer in seven languages, the author of two books and five scientific papers, a university lecturer in 3D computer animation and graphic art, and an amateur archeologist in the Middle East where he believes he’s found the location of the Garden of Eden. (We didn’t even get a chance to talk about that.)

Stan discussed his earthquake prediction maps, which are based on ocean temperature data provided by the U.S. Navy. He’s been accurate approaching 80 to 90 percent of the time, to the point that it appears the Navy is withholding information from Stan from time to time. We got his assessment of the killer quake in Pakistan.

He also talked about his work on anti-gravity, research that almost got him killed at the bottom of a mile-deep mine shaft in Australia. Stan says this technology is in use today, but not by any national government. Governments change, but the men and women who hold real power in this world pass it down from generation to generation and they have no national loyalties.

And we’ll mention again, in the public interest, that Stan does not recommend anti-gravity as a safe elementary school science project.

1. Lord James of Blackheath, whom you might remember for his “Foundation X” speech in 2010 (link opens YouTube video), stated in the House of Lords Thursday (2/16) that he’s been investigating for the last two years an attempted fraud or money laundering scheme, possibly involving the government of the U.S. or the Federal Reserve Bank, in the neighborhood of $15 trillion.  (The 2012 budget of the United States, by comparison, is about $3.8 trillion.)
2. Eight people were arrested in Italy Friday (2/17) in possession of $6 trillion in counterfeit U.S. bonds.  That’s double the size of Italy’s national debt (and again, nearly double the annual budget of the U.S.).
3. A quick look through Google News reveals a number of arrests for trafficking in large quantities of counterfeit U.S. government bonds ($134 billion in Italy, $875 billion in Malaysia, $2 trillion in the Philippines, etc.) over the past ten years.

If we assume that some counterfeiters actually get away with their crimes, we have to wonder: How much phony U.S. debt is out there?  How much of it is in the hands of supposedly stable financial institutions?  Is any of it actually being circulated intentionally by those institutions?  And how does that affect the state of the global economy?

The mind reels.
