THE MEETING of the heads of state of the world’s largest economies last week, the G20 summit, provided its members a number of photo opportunities — and what one prominent economic writer calls a “revolution in the global financial order.”

World leaders, under cover of the current economic crisis, authorized the International Monetary Fund to create a de facto global currency called Special Drawing Rights. Watch what happens next: we predict that the U.N. will seek the power to tax the world, either by taxing carbon emissions, or through the International Seabed Authority, which — under powers granted through the Law of the Sea Treaty — would tax mineral related activities in the international seabed. (Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said that securing U.S. ratification of the treaty would be a priority for her.)

This should come as no surprise to Christians. The drive to restore the global empire of Nimrod has ever been the goal of globalists, and now we’re another step closer to Babel.

We also talked about this week’s rash of multiple murders. Already the meme is spreading: in a time of economic distress, gun ownership is dangerous.

THE OPENING CLIP for tonight’s show, from Casablanca, sums up the political dance taking place over the AIG bonus money in Washington, D.C. The very people who voted to make the financial services industry the wealthiest welfare recipients in history now express mock outrage that the money they appropriated from American taxpayers isn’t being spent the way it should.

So they say. Comes word this weekend that some of that bailout money — the stuff left over after bank executives signed their bonus checks, paid foreign creditors, and bought up smaller competitors — is finding its way into the campaign coffers of United States congressmen and senators.

We are shocked! Shocked!

No we aren’t. Picture Chris Dodd or Barney Frank as Inspector Renault and you get the idea. What’s really interesting is that staunchly liberal members of the major media like Paul Krugman, Frank Rich, Maureen Dowd, and others are beginning to realize that President Obama either doesn’t know what he doing, or he does — and they’re not sure which is worse.

Most of the show tonight deals with the economic meltdown of the United States and world reaction to it, and what appears to be the cooperation of the current and former presidential administrations in speeding the process along.

THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA have begun a new chapter with the inauguration of our first president of African descent. While we are genuinely glad to see this barrier finally broken, we are — as you might guess — skeptical of his ability to fix the economy, save our 401k, send our daughter to college, cure AIDS, reverse global warming, eliminate nuclear weapons, and bring peace to the world. Especially when you look at the people President Obama has brought on board to help him achieve these lofty goals.

We were also bothered by the blatant spiritual overtones of the “We Are One” concert last Sunday. U2’s Bono flat-out described the president as the answer to the world’s prayers, and the lyrics of Bruce Springsteen’s song “The Rising” were absolutely metaphysical. And creepy.

We also discussed an article by Amir Taheri that appeared last fall in Forbes. Taheri, author of ten books on Iran, the Middle East and Islam, wrote:

According to the tradition, Imam Ali Ibn Abi-Talib (the prophet’s cousin and son-in-law) prophesied that at the End of Times and just before the return of the Mahdi, the Ultimate Saviour, a “tall black man will assume the reins of government in the West.” Commanding “the strongest army on earth,” the new ruler in the West will carry “a clear sign” from the third imam, whose name was Hussein Ibn Ali. The tradition concludes: “Shiites should have no doubt that he is with us.”

In a curious coincidence Obama’s first and second names–Barack Hussein–mean “the blessing of Hussein” in Arabic and Persian. His family name, Obama, written in the Persian alphabet, reads O Ba Ma, which means “he is with us,” the magic formula in Majlisi’s tradition.

2009 promises to be an interesting year.
